Giuseppe Tarasconi Milan 1910 Certificate of Authenticity
Giuseppe Tarasconi (1851 - 1925), a little-known maker, was born in Parma and worked there until the end of the 19th Century, when he opened a shop in Milan.
A student of G. Rossi, Tarasconi made relatively few instruments but developed a personal model that he faithfully followed. He used varnish ranging from warm orange to fiery red to pinkish red.
This violin illustrates the expressiveness of Tarasconi's work. The edges and corners are thick and wide, and the f-holes are uniquely stylized with small upper eyes. The varnish is a rich reddish-brown over a wide-grained top and strikingly flamed back.
