Verbal Appraisals An approximate verbal estimate typically is free. For appraisals that require research, there will be a charge that may be applied toward the cost of a written appraisal. Written Appraisals We can provide written appraisals to satisfy all insurance, tax or probate requirements. Please call for pricing. Appraisals include precise valuation, identifying description, and consideration of condition for instruments, bows, and cases. We also provide appraisal updates. All appraisals are archived. Please bring your instrument and bow into the shop along with any documents or certificates. Certificate of Authenticity We can provide certificates of authenticity for all instruments we sell. A certificate will guarantee the authenticity of an instrument and will include a description of condition, color, varnish, and other details. Included are measurements and photographs. Trade-in Policy We offer full trade-in value for instruments and bows purchased from us. We deduct the cost for a set of strings for instruments and a rehair for bows. Buy-Back Policy We will buy back instruments and bows, in good condition, purchased from us at 50 percent of the purchase price.
Trial Period We understand that choosing an instrument can be a difficult and long process. This is why we offer a one-week trial period for instruments and bows. Customers can check out as many as two instruments and three bows for one week to play at home or other settings. At the end of the week, a customer can make a purchase or return everything and continue searching.
We are happy to ship instruments and bows on trial to players who cannot visit Portland. Customers pay for shipping both ways. If a customer chooses to buy an instrument or bow, we refund the cost of shipping.
