Protection
Always keep your instrument and bow in the case or bag when not in use. Please remember to loosen your bow before putting
it away, and always remove the shoulder rest from the instrument before putting it in the case.
Cellists, please do not zip your case entirely around the endpin. Use both sides of the zipper to close the case and zip it up only to the endpin to avoid tearing the zipper. Case replacement cost is $120 and is not covered in the damage protection fee.
Temperature and Humidity
Never leave your instrument in the car. While there is an inherent risk of theft, there are also danger associated with the weather. Temperature changes can create cracks in the instrument and cause the varnish to melt. Instruments also need to maintain an average humidity level. Extremes can cause damage such as cracks or adjustment problems.
Cleaning:
Please remove the rosin dust from your instrument with a soft, dry cloth after each playing. You may periodically polish your instrument but only with David Kerr's polish sold at the shop. Never use oil or alcohol, which will damage varnish.
Bridge and Pegs:
Tuning your strings tends to pull the bridge forward .The bridge should always be in a perpendicular position. If the bridge needs adjusting, we are happy to do that for you at no cost. If your pegs are difficult to use, please allow us to adjust them.
